Sony CFO Lin Tao says the PlayStation ‘supply chain has been diversified’ away from, China

This week, Sony unveiled its financial results for the year, along with expectations and predictions for the company’s future. Accompanying this was a presentation where they discussed their PlayStation console and related accessories supply chain. The Chief Financial Officer, Lin Tao, addressed the topic, revealing that Sony is broadening its supply chain focus beyond China to ensure they have a three-month stockpile of these items ready for sale.

As a gamer, I shared some insights during our investor presentation and Q&A session following the release of PlayStation’s full-year earnings results for the period ending on March 31, 2025. When one attendee asked about how the chaotic global economy might impact our supply chain, here’s what I had to say:

“Well, let me tell you this, fellow gamers. The turbulent global economy has indeed brought challenges to our supply chain. But fear not, for we are working tirelessly to navigate these waters and ensure a steady flow of PlayStations to your eager hands as quickly as possible.

According to Sony’s Chief Financial Officer, Lin Tao, the production of the PS5 is being spread out from China to other countries. This means that the PS5 will also be manufactured in these additional nations. #Sony #PS5 #Tariffs

It appears that PlayStation is taking action amidst unpredictable global economic conditions. Keep an eye out for updates on our earnings section, where we’ll be sharing the quarterly and annual results of different companies.
