As reported by The News International, Jeff Fowler recently spoke with SFX Magazine during promotions for Sonic the Hedgehog 3. During the interview, Fowler shared insights on how he managed to secure Keanu Reeves to portray Shadow in Sonic 3.
As a gamer, I’d be honest if I didn’t acknowledge the clear connection between the intense action and dark charm of John Wick’s character and the mood we’re aiming for in Shadow. You see, Shadow shares an anti-hero vibe with John Wick, giving him a bit of an edgy persona.
The director elaborated that Reeves’ portrayal of John Wick made him an ideal choice for the role of Shadow. In his words, “Keanu seemed perfectly suited for the part. His performance was outstanding. He understood what we were looking for, and he was eager to embody the character and join our universe.
Earlier in an interview with Screen Rant, Keanu Reeves shared his thoughts on portraying Shadow in Sonic 3 on the big screen. He explained that for over half a century, Shadow has been in a state of suspended animation and is now emerging with a thirst for revenge. The process of tapping into the anger and emotional depth was an intense experience for him.
