It’s been verified that when Solo Leveling Season 2 premieres, there will be hidden references or nods to the series (Easter eggs) that some viewers might have overlooked. This anime, titled Only I Level Up in its original South Korean web novel, was one of the standout animated productions in recent years, breaking streaming records and winning multiple awards, including Anime of the Year at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards.

At Anime Expo 2025, I got an exclusive peek behind the scenes from A-1 Pictures, the genius minds behind my favorite anime, Solo Leveling. During their presentation, they revealed that the first Easter egg in the series was a subtle spark effect at the start of the opening sequence. They explained this spark was intentionally included to hint at the refined animation control we can expect in Season 2, titled Arise From the Shadow. Quite fascinating, isn’t it?
In the initial scene, following Cha Hae-In’s second shot, you’ll notice a set of gambling chips. These chips, subtly hinted at, feature the symbol of the Hunter’s Association. There are only six chips visible, which is a subtle reference to the six elite S-rank hunters involved in the Jeju Island Raid.
In the opening scene of the show, as a devoted fan, I noticed that only three of Sung Jinwoo’s Shadow Soldiers were visible – Tank, Iron, and Igris. This choice by the director was cleverly designed to foster intrigue about the level-up process he experienced in Season 2 and keep us guessing about the total number of Shadow Soldiers Jinwoo has acquired.
