Solana Congestion Patch Solution Released by Validator Client Anza

Anza, who creates one of the validator clients for Solana’s Agave network, has shared a fix to help ease the current network congestion problems. The team is working diligently to discover the most effective method for addressing Solana’s congestion challenges.

Anza’s Proposed Solana Congestion Solution

Anzza announced on the X platform that they have launched a fresh update, version 1.18.11, on Solana’s development network. He urged Solana’s validators on the testnet to download and evaluate its performance.

Anza urged everyone to upgrade right away so we can begin examining the impacts of the proposed traffic solutions. This action is essential for our team as it allows us to evaluate and make any required adjustments prior to releasing the update onto the primary network.

Solana testnet validators: The new version 1.18.11 of Solana has been released and is now available on devnet. We recommend upgrading as soon as possible to assist us in evaluating the impact of the proposed congestion solutions.

An upgrade for Anza was announced not long ago, following confirmations from Solana’s executive, Austin Federa, about ongoing developer initiatives to address network congestion. He explained that unexpectedly high demand had turned a manageable problem into one in need of significant enhancement due to the surge.

Federa identified the traffic jams as a result of QUIC’s adoption on Agave during the handling of multiple requests. This congestion led to longer processing times and increased transaction failures, negatively impacting users’ experiences. Previously reported by Coinspeaker, approximately three-quarters of non-vote transactions on Solana’s blockchain failed in tandem with network spikes.

Additionally, Solana’s architecture, which handles transactions immediately instead of using a queue like other blockchains, can lead to increased traffic and strain during busy times. Yet, the team is said to be actively exploring various methods to alleviate this problem.

It’s worth noting that Solana encountered congestion problems not long after the Solana community Superteam unveiled a provocative video aimed at ETHMAXI and Ethereum. In this video, it was suggested that several developers had run into issues with ETHMAXI while trying to transfer Solana across the Wormhole bridge. Both the Solana foundation’s official account and its chairman spoke publicly about this situation.

Impact of Meme Coin Ecosystem Growth on SOL’s Price

In March, the use and desire for Solana blockchain significantly increased, leading to a surge of over 224% more transactions on its Decentralized Exchanges (DEXs) compared to the previous month. However, in the last 24 hours, the price of Solana’s native cryptocurrency, SOL, has dropped by 0.85%. Additionally, the overall market value of SOL has decreased by 0.83% to $77.4 billion, and the trading volume has gone down by 19.13% to $2.6 billion.

In March, the expansion of the network could be linked to heightened interest in SOL-based meme coins. These coins have gained traction among investors, contributing to their surge in popularity. Established meme coins like BONK and WEN have already made a name for themselves in this market. However, newcomers looking to make a splash are constantly joining the competition.

For example, Donk.meme, which is built on the Solana blockchain, recently unveiled its presale for the DONKM token. This meme coin derives its name and theme from the chatty donkey character of Shrek lore. The creators aim to not only provide amusement but also establish a unique identity for Donk.meme within the Solana community of meme coins.
