So posh! Victoria Beckham documentary series in the works at Netflix

As a seasoned gamer and pop culture enthusiast with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must admit that I am genuinely excited about the upcoming Victoria Beckham documentary series on Netflix. Having grown up in the ’90s, the Spice Girls were an integral part of my youth, and their impact on popular culture is still felt today.

The Beckham family is back on Netflix, but this time the spotlight will be solely on Victoria. On August 21st, Netflix revealed that they have commenced production on a documentary series focusing on Victoria Beckham‘s life and career. This series promises to showcase her journey from international pop sensation with the iconic Spice Girls to her current role as a mother and entrepreneur, offering an insightful look into every aspect of her life!

The upcoming, still unnamed docuseries focusing on the latter part of the Beckham power couple is almost here, nearly a year after David Beckham’s popular documentary series BECKHAM was released in October 2023. This four-part series proved to be a ratings success and even earned an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series. Victoria, who was featured alongside her husband, provided one of the most adorably amusing viral moments of the series.

By August 2024, Netflix has yet to specify the exact number of episodes for their upcoming documentary series. However, considering Netflix’s typical pattern with docuseries, it’s likely that the series will consist of roughly three to four episodes. The extent to which the series delves into Victoria’s past, from her upbringing to her rise as a singer, remains unclear. Nevertheless, there seems to be a strong focus on chronicling her transition from music to building her fashion and beauty empire.

As a devoted fan, I can’t contain my excitement about the upcoming documentary on Netflix, which promises an intimate look into the life of the former pop sensation. Just like Beckham, this docuseries will undoubtedly feature interviews and appearances by the icon herself, Victoria. However, what truly makes this production intriguing is that David, her husband and business partner, will also be part of the story, gracing us with his insights and presence. Here’s an official synopsis straight from Netflix’s press release:

Through an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Victoria’s business, access to Victoria, her family, those closest to her and her fashion journey and including never-before-seen archive, the series will tell the story of Victoria’s reinvention as a Creative Director of her own brand. The series executive producers are Emmy-nominated Nicola Howson and BAFTA-nominated Julia Nottingham.

David Beckham’s production company, Studio 99, is set to oversee the production of the upcoming series, with Nicola Howson from their team serving as the executive producer. Julia Nottingham, known for her work on Netflix documentaries such as “Pamela: A Love Story” and “The Greatest Night in Pop”, will also take on an executive producer role. At this point, Fisher Stevens is set to direct, although a director has yet to be confirmed for Victoria’s series.

There’s no question that the upcoming docuseries will undoubtedly be another massive triumph for the Beckhams, adding more authenticity to their image that has been somewhat distorted by tabloids since the ’90s. And it’s certain that Victoria’s wit and humor will take center stage. While Netflix hasn’t given a specific release date yet, we anticipate it to drop sometime between mid-2025 to late 2025.
