Critiques for the latest Disney live-action rendition of Snow White are starting to surface, and it seems that people’s opinions about it are quite varied from the get-go.
What are the Snow White reviews saying?
According to Rotten Tomatoes, Snow White currently has a rating of 48% based on 81 critic reviews. While the movie’s reception has been mixed, lead actress Rachel Zegler has garnered significant acclaim for her performance. Daniel Bayer from AwardsWatch particularly lauds Zegler, stating that when she is on screen, the film captures some of the classic Disney charm.
David Rooney of The Hollywood Reporter applauded Zegler’s performance as Snow White, stating she delivered her role with sincerity and conviction. On the other hand, Tyler Taing from Discussing Film appreciated her powerful portrayal, but pointed out that the movie itself is flawed, being a clumsy and poorly thought-out live-action Disney remake with few enjoyable aspects.
Snow White will be released in theaters on March 21, 2025.

In addition to Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, Snow White will feature Andrew Burnap as Jonathan and Martin Klebba as Grumpy in the cast. This upcoming project is under direction and production by Marc Webb, with Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson writing the screenplay. The story and music from the original are expected to be expanded upon. The team behind La La Land and The Greatest Showman, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, will also compose new songs for this adaptation.
The synopsis describes Disney’s Snow White as a live-action musical adaptation of the 1937 film, offering an enchanted music experience that revisits the cherished tale featuring characters such as Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, and Sneezy.
This endeavor belongs to the expanding catalog of Disney’s forthcoming live-action ventures, encompassing Moana, Hercules, Lilo & Stitch, and Bambi among others.
