Snow Peak Announces Opening of Mount Akagi “Land Station” Campsite in 2026

In Spring 2026, Snow Peak has been given permission by Gunma Prefecture to construct a new campsite at Mount Akagi Park, a well-known summit located within Maebishi City and surrounded by dense forests. This development aligns with Snow Peak’s global initiative of building campsites and hosting outdoor activities. The Mount Akagi “Land Station” and camping ground is one of the most ambitious camping projects undertaken by the Japanese company since they opened “Land Station Hakuba” in 2020.

On this expansive piece of land, various types of camping experiences are offered catering to diverse visitor preferences. This ranges from open campsites, sites equipped with power outlets, pet-friendly areas, and mobile “JYUBAKO” camper zones. For added convenience, there will be a Snow Peak boutique on site, managed directly, offering a wide range of camping equipment, as well as a tourism information center manned by park personnel. A café, rental meeting rooms, shower facilities, coin lockers, and a multi-purpose plaza are also accessible for the use of campers. The Snow Peak store will stock items such as tents, Snow Peak clothing, local souvenirs, and products, while the café collaborates with local businesses to create menus using indigenous ingredients.

As a nature enthusiast, I can’t wait to share my excitement about Akagi Park! In the warmer months, you’ll find refreshingly cool temperatures that make for a delightful summer escape. And when winter rolls around, the park transforms into a breathtaking snowy wonderland, offering unparalleled views of untouched wilderness. Snow Peak is committed to leveraging its outdoor expertise to foster tourism growth in this region, all while creating unique experiences for everyone who visits Akagi Park.
