In the world of heists, there’s a significant amount of stress involved in executing one flawlessly. Not everyone has the skills or the nerve to be an elusive thief, evading law enforcement and vanishing without a trace after committing a crime. However, there’s a thrill in meticulously plotting every detail, and that’s exactly what Snap & Grab offers. This game, developed by No Goblin and published by Annapurna Interactive, provides an opportunity to experience such planning, and for the first time, it was playable at Summer Game Fest.
At this year’s Summer Game Fest, the game Snap & Grab was introduced. This game centers around the character Nifty Nevada, a high-class photographer who doubles as a skilled thief operating in secrecy. Rather than doing the dirty work herself, she relies on a brawny yet dim-witted assistant named Brick. However, even with Brick by her side, he’s not always up to the task – he seems to struggle with even tying his shoelaces. Nifty’s role is to survey potential crime scenes as she goes about her day job, and then orchestrate a series of events that culminates in success.
At a lavish rooftop bash in a towering apartment building, attended by the city’s elite, the Summer Game Fest demo unfolded. As Nify was guided through the scene, the game would subtly suggest strategies for arranging things effectively. The objective involved capturing photos of specific targets, security personnel, and various points of interest. With Snap & Grab, players can organize their images into a sequence, setting up a heist. However, there’s a fair amount of risk, as any unforeseen complications could cause the heist to collapse, forcing Nify to adapt and find solutions.
Mastering heists relies heavily on intelligence gathering. To snatch the loot, Nifty had to devise a strategy to divert the security guard’s attention and find a way to engage the guard’s pet tiger (not as menacing as it sounds). For this specific operation, it required Nifty to sneak into the kitchen, make a mess on the tiger’s caretaker, then put on the chef’s hat as a disguise. This disguise enabled Nifty to enter restricted areas undisturbed and overfeed the tiger, keeping it occupied while Brick executed his plan.
In Snap & Grab, there’s a hint of Hitman-like gameplay with its disguise system and lively non-player characters, but it lacks the violent assassinations. Instead, this game is all about humor, with a comical twist! For instance, in one mission, you could trick a security guard into walking under a falling chandelier, causing him to do a comedic tumble and quip a short joke. As the story progresses, the laughs continue when detective Rio Rivers interrogates Nifty about a stolen apartment key, leading to an absurd twist: the interrogation scene is not where you might expect!
What makes Snap & Grab captivating is that there are multiple avenues to triumph in your gaming experience, but these tasks remain completely open-ended. During the second heist, I devised a distraction by letting a chandelier fall, yet numerous other strategies exist for snatching the target. You could generate chaos, draw attention away, turn off the lights, silence the music, or come up with countless other tactics. The creators of this game encourage players to explore their unique approaches and they’re definitely offering various routes to success without explicitly stating them.
In the forthcoming Snap & Grab, there’s plenty more to explore! You’ll find additional job opportunities, potential team members joining the ranks, and some unexpected plot developments. Not only that, but you can upgrade your apartment with various rewards. Since the best heists require careful planning, be prepared for No Goblin to take its time to ensure everything goes smoothly. Keep an eye out for Snap & Grab to arrive on PC in 2026.
The sneak peek we’re showing you comes from an early demo that was played live at Summer Game Fest: Play Days. However, please keep in mind that the final version may still undergo changes.
