As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for horror movies, I must admit that I’ve been thoroughly captivated by the Smile franchise. The sequel’s box office success and favorable reviews are a testament to Parker Finn’s knack for creating chilling narratives that keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
In the second film, Smile maintains its wide smile, gleaming from one ear to another, after breaking the record set by the original movie at the box office.
Much like its forerunner, Smile 2 was greeted with positive feedback upon its release. Currently, it has an impressive 85% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes – a significant improvement over the initial film. Both films were penned and helmed by Parker Finn.
What were the totals for the Smile 2 box office previews?
Besides receiving positive early reviews from critics, the horror sequel raked in $2.5 million during Thursday night screenings at the box office. In comparison, the original film, released in 2022 and shown in theaters for the first time, earned $2 million during its initial weekend previews. Predictions suggest it could gross between $20 million to $25 million during its opening weekend, given its budget of $28 million. There’s also a possibility that it may earn even more.
In a straightforward and conversational tone,
As global pop star Skye Riley prepares for a new world tour, she encounters growing and baffling terrifying incidents. Struggling with the mounting nightmares and the weight of stardom, Skye is compelled to confront her haunting past in order to reclaim her life before it becomes unmanageable.
In this movie, I’m thrilled to see myself as the character Skye Riley, played by Naomi Scott. Rosemarie DeWitt takes on the role of Elizabeth Riley, while Ray Nicholson portrays Paul Hudson. Lukas Gage is Lewis Fregoli, Miles Gutierrez-Riley plays Joshua, Dylan Gelula is Gemma, and Raúl Castillo brings Darius Bravo to life. Morris, a character I can’t wait to see more of, is played by Peter Jacobson. Kyle Gallner, who we remember fondly from the previous installments, reprises his role as Joel in this production too!
It is produced by Finn, Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, Isaac Klausner, and Robert Salerno.
Smile 2 is now in theaters.
