Summary
- Oblivion Remastered has Skyrim fans secretly hoping for an Unreal Engine 5 remaster, as many admit to being willing to buy the game yet again.
- Even those that hate the idea admit that they “probably would”, even those that want The Elder Scrolls 6 to hurry up and get here.
- It appears to be a popular idea, so that pretty much guarantees we’ll get yet another Skyrim re-release in 2027.
As a dedicated gamer, when I ponder over the realm of Skyrim, the undeniable reputation it has as one of the most frequently resurrected games across the gaming landscape springs to mind. This renowned status is so merited that even Bethesda itself couldn’t resist poking fun with a humorous commercial in 2019, featuring Keegan Michael Key depicting Skyrim on an Etch-a-Sketch and a Samsung Smart Fridge. Over the years, it has graced various platforms, be it through straightforward porting or remastering.
One might expect that since there are numerous iterations of Skyrim available, gamers wouldn’t show much interest in purchasing it once more. However, contrary to expectation, this doesn’t seem to be the case. The thriving success of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered has sparked a longing among some Skyrim enthusiasts, leaving them gazing wistfully at the prospect.
Skyrim Fans Are Secretly Hoping For An Oblivion-Style Remaster
Initially, a user named OkayRuin posted on the Skyrim subreddit, posing a question to the entire community: Would they be willing to repurchase Skyrim if it underwent a Unreal Engine 5 remaster similar to Oblivion? They expressed that they personally “wouldn’t think twice” about doing so.
It seems that not everyone is as averse to the concept as one might initially assume. A user named Rugbymoose 12367 openly confesses they’ve repurchased Skyrim at a reduced price. On the other hand, Absolutedebauchery0, who appears to be skeptical about the idea, eventually concedes that under different circumstances, they too might consider it.
Skoltheus confesses that experiencing Oblivion left him yearning for more Skyrim, and ReyDeathWish asserts that those who deny this are deceiving themselves. Meanwhile, Kisame83 admits to sharing the same sentiment but acknowledges they have an issue, indicating a degree of self-awareness.
It seems that most comments here are fans expressing their intent to purchase a remaster, even though the wait for The Elder Scrolls 6 is already quite lengthy. I suppose I’ll catch up with everyone again in 2027 when Bethesda releases Skyrim: The Ultimate Remastered Version.
