In this article, we’ll explore the hidden gems and nods to the Star Wars universe found in Episode 3 of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew – along with references to the larger Star Wars franchise. Enjoy the read!
List of major Star Wars easter eggs in Skeleton Crew Episode 3
The third episode of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew features numerous easter eggs listed below.
B1 battle droid
In the third episode, our character, Jod, explores a compact workshop filled with various malfunctioning and seized droids. As he inspects each one, he encounters a face that Star Wars enthusiasts will recognize. It’s none other than the B1 battle droid, often known as Roger. However, upon attempting to communicate with this droid, Jod’s first words cause its head to malfunction and shatter, causing it to fall to the ground. The droid even mentions the Clone Wars, inquiring if they had triumphed.
Crimson Jack
In this installment, there’s a significant surprise: it turns out that Jude Law’s character is actually Crimson Jack. This enigmatic figure made his debut in Star Wars Issue 7 from 1977. He’s no friend of Han Solo, often challenging him and attempting to steal the rewards for saving Princess Leia and even kidnapping them. After a heated confrontation between Han and Jack, things escalated to the point where Han ended up shooting Crimson Jack.
Jod’s use of the Force
In a fashion reminiscent of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s cunning distraction of the stormtroopers in “A New Hope,” I employ an equivalent force to divert the attention of these pirates.
Hondo’s Ohnaka’s ship
In episode 3 of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, another delightful hidden reference is revealed: a vessel named The Katooni. This ship belongs to a pirate character known as Hondo Ohnaka, who hails from the Star Wars universe. Interestingly, Katooni was initially a Jedi whom Hondo encountered during the Clone Wars.
Door probe
It was also spotted in Return of the Jedi at the doors of Jabba’s palace.
X-Wing Sector Patrol
In this episode, the Adelphi Rangers from The Mandalorian are alluded to as the New Republic works to secure peace across the galaxy.
