SK25: Sivakarthikeyan and Sudha Kongara’s film lands in trouble over its title? Here’s what we know

The film titled SK25, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Ravi Mohan, has been generating a lot of buzz since it was first announced. Lately, the movie directed by Sudha Kongara has stirred discussions due to its rumored title, Parasakthi. Though fans eagerly await an official confirmation, the potential title has already ignited controversy.

As reported by Indiaglitz, the Sivaji Social Welfare Association has voiced objections towards using the title in question. In their statement, they emphasized the profound historical and cultural importance of Parasakthi in Tamil cinema. They pointed out that the 1952 classic, starring Sivaji Ganesan, was not merely a film but a groundbreaking milestone that significantly impacted the industry. The association expressed worries that repeating the title could potentially diminish its enduring legacy.

The team also brought up past disputes about reviving this famous film title. Once, this caused a change to the title becoming “Meendum Parasakthi” due to similar resistance. Additionally, they expressed disapproval towards the growing habit in Tamil cinema of repeating elements from classic movies.

The organization has encouraged the creators of the latest venture to rethink and modify the project’s name. As per the news, they threatened to stage protests if their request fell on deaf ears. They emphasized that preserving the title would not only dishonor Tamil cinema’s legacy but also disappoint fans of Sivaji Ganesan worldwide.

Right now, SK25 is being developed. This movie signifies Sivakarthikeyan’s 25th role as a main actor, with Dawn Pictures and Red Giant Movies joining forces to produce it. Alongside Sivakarthikeyan, the cast includes Ravi Mohan, Sreeleela, and Atharvaa.

At first, director Sudha Kongara intended to team up with actor Suriya again following their hit film Soorarai Pottru. However, that particular project ultimately didn’t move forward due to unspecified reasons. Later on, Sudha chose to revisit the original script and enlisted Sivakarthikeyan as the main character instead. The upcoming project was finally revealed in December 2024 under the working title SK25.

Last year, during the Diwali celebrations on October 31, Sivakarthikeyan appeared in the film “Amaran” alongside Sai Pallavi. This movie was a huge hit and broke numerous box office records.
