Predictions for the opening weekend box office of the horror film by Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler, titled “Sinners”, have been made public. The movie, slated for release over Easter weekend, is projected to make a significant debut.
What are the Sinners box office predictions?
Based on a recent Deadline report, it’s projected that the movie “Sinners” will earn more than $40 million during its premiere on April 18, 2025. This anticipated opening is estimated to be larger than the debut of films such as Alien: Romulus (2024) and Mickey 17 by Bong Joon Ho, which both opened at around $42 million and $40 million respectively.
According to a recent report by Deadline, certain projection models estimate the film’s budget at around $30 million. However, as the main promotional campaign for the movie won’t start until early April, it’s expected that the budget may increase.
Joining Jordan in the Sinners ensemble are Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse), Jack O’Connell (Ferrari, Back to Black), Wunmi Mosaku (Lovecraft Country, Loki), Jayme Lawson (The Penguin, The Woman King), and Omar Benson Miller (CSI: Miami, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), as well as Delroy Lindo (Da 5 Bloods, The Harder They Fall).
In collaboration with Sev Ohanian and Zinzi Coogler, Ryan Coogler directs the film. Ludwig Göransson, Will Greenfield, and Rebecca Cho take on the roles of executive producers.
In 2013, Ryan Coogler made his first feature film as a director with Fruitvale Station. After that, he directed Creed in 2015 and Black Panther in 2018 – all three films starred Michael B. Jordan. In 2022, Coogler directed the sequel to Black Panther, titled Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, where Jordan had a minor appearance. Additionally, Coogler has produced movies like Judas and the Black Messiah (2021), Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021), and Creed III (2023).
Since wrapping up Creed III, where he was both actor and director, this is the next film role for Jordan. Previously, he has taken on acting roles in films including Chronicle (2012), Fantastic Four (2015), Just Mercy (2019), and A Journal for Jordan (2021).
