Keiichiro Toyama is currently developing a fresh video game concept following the launch of the lesser-known Slitterhead. With a gaming career that dates back to his work on Hideo Kojima’s Snatcher in 1994, Toyama plans to bring another innovative idea to life over the coming years.
During a conversation with a Japanese publication Famitsu at a recent Slitterhead exhibit, Toyama revealed that post the launch of his latest game in 2024, he has already embarked on a brand-new project.
Silent Hill creator is working on a new game
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m excited to share that the creative mind behind my favorite games is already brewing something new! However, the genius, Toyama, was tight-lipped about the timeline for this upcoming project – so we’ll just have to keep guessing and eagerly await more details!
Although I can’t disclose specifics yet, work has commenced on our upcoming project. Initially, our aim was to establish a studio where we could explore a variety of concepts, such as nurturing fresh ideas and even dabbling in lighter, more playful productions,” the creator of Silent Hill shared.
Toyama clarified that the freshly announced game is now under development during its initial stage, and further specifics about it are yet to come at a later time. However, it’s important to note that, although not officially confirmed, the developer has hinted that this new game might not be a continuation of Slitterhead since it wasn’t originally planned as such.
In addition to unveiling his latest video game creation, the inventor of Silent Hill shared that his advanced age might limit his ability to produce more games in the future. Although this upcoming project could be his final one, the studio assures us they’ll carry on producing new titles after him.
He stated that as we progress, it’s essential for us to hand over responsibility to the upcoming generation. Our studio is currently in the middle of striving towards our objective.
In his final contribution to the Silent Hill series, Toyama worked on the original installment. However, he has crafted numerous other terrifying games as well. Among these are Siren, Siren 2, and Siren: Blood Curse. Additionally, Toyama is also responsible for developing Gravity Rush and its subsequent edition.
