Sigourney Weaver Reveals Avatar 3 Won’t Be Her Last Movie in the Series

As a fan who has grown up witnessing the cinematic marvels unfold, I am beyond thrilled to see Sigourney Weaver reprising her iconic role in the Avatar franchise yet again! Her portrayal of Dr. Grace Augustine and Kiri has been nothing short of mesmerizing, and it’s a testament to her acting prowess that she continues to breathe life into these characters.

The “Avatar” series has left an indelible mark on cinema history through its two releases. Movies like “Avatar” and “Avatar: The Water Way” have amassed staggering earnings at global box offices, placing them among the top three highest-grossing films ever made. Director James Cameron has hinted at more sequels, guaranteeing a minimum of three additional movies in the series. In a recent interview, veteran actress Sigourney Weaver also shared insights about her potential role in future “Avatar” installments.

Sigourney Weaver confirms plans for Avatar 4 and 5

Actress Sigourney Weaver has shared that she’ll show up in both Avatar 4 and Avatar 5, directed by James Cameron.

In the first Avatar film, Weaver brilliantly played Dr. Grace Augustine, a character who tragically lost her life during the human-Na’vi conflict. However, in Avatar: The Way of Water, Weaver reprised her role, this time as Kiri – a 14-year-old Na’vi girl, who is the daughter of Dr. Augustine’s Na’vi counterpart.

Previously, it was announced that Sigourney Weaver would be part of the third film in the Avatar series, titled Avatar: Fire and Ash. In a recent interview with Deadline, Weaver discussed her role in future Avatar films. The veteran actress, who is now 74 years old, praised James Cameron’s work and provided some details about her participation in the third movie.

“Jim’s success and the ongoing success of these films make me incredibly happy, as it allows us to keep producing them,” Weaver expressed. “In fact, I recently wrapped up work on Avatar 3 earlier this month, and I believe the franchise will only expand and become even more impactful in the future,” she further commented.

Regarding her involvement in Avatar 4 and 5, Sigourney Weaver confirmed, “Yes, I can definitely share that I’m expected to be part of these films.” She also added insight into their production process, mentioning that the scripts have been completed and are promising. “We’ve got a clear idea of what they are. They’re shaping up to be great. However, James Cameron is still working on number 3. It’s exciting to anticipate them,” she concluded.

The names for the fourth and fifth Avatar movies have not been revealed yet. Additionally, there’s speculation about whether Sigourney Weaver will reprise her character, Kiri, or take on a different role in the upcoming Avatar sequels.

The third entry in the franchise, Avatar: Fire and Ash, will hit theatres on December 19, 2025.
