As a seasoned Stalker player with countless hours spent navigating the treacherous landscapes of the Zone, I must say that choosing between Simon Dubny and the Ward is not a decision to be taken lightly. With my trusty AK-47 at the ready and my map filled with the mysteries of the Zone, I find myself torn between two compelling characters and their respective factions.
Making a crucial choice in Stalker 2 between Simon Dubna or The Ward will significantly impact each player’s journey. Though the ensuing missions may resemble one another, the entities involved and objectives pursued will shift according to your decision. Here are some key points about choosing allegiances within SIRCAA:
Side with Simon Dubny or the Ward?
At SIRCAA, as you move through the narrative, you’ll encounter a significant crossroads, choosing between Simon Dubny and The Ward. This choice will propel you onto one of two separate journeys. From now on, you’ll converse with either Richter or Colonel Korshunov, depending on your decision.
Independent of your choice, any leftover quests from the Lesser Zone (such as the Lost Boys’ mission or Nightingale’s Hunt) will be deemed incomplete or abandoned if not finished.
Since the outcomes of both options are quite similar when considering the Monolith, the Zone, and your upcoming destination, it boils down to what you personally find more appealing. Would you rather collaborate with Richter and the former Monolith members, or do you believe that The Ward and Dr. Dalin’s approach is the correct one?
Side with Simon Dubny
As a gamer, I’d choose Simon Dubny’s faction. That means storming the research facility to seize the artifact before the Monolith activates. Regrettably, even with the artifact, we can’t prevent the facility from self-destructing. So, it’s time to battle my way out of there. Along the journey, I stumble upon Richter, learn that the Monolithians have returned, Strider is no more, and the Zone remains dangerously hostile.
Following a conversation with Richter, proceed on the “Just Like the Good Old Days” journey which will take you to Professor Lodochka at Quiet’s camp close to Wild Island. This series of events might also guide you towards the Sphere.
Side with the Ward
Should you choose to align with Ward, your first task becomes eliminating Dubny and his associates before proceeding into the facility alongside Dr Dalin. Although the intention is to utilize the artifact to annul the Zone, an explosion will occur instead, necessitating a swift exit from the area.
After navigating through the tunnels and reaching SIRCAA’s outer wall, you’ll encounter two missions: “Reviving the Past” and “The Hornests’ Den”. From here, your actions will increasingly align with the Ward’s objectives, but you can still lend a hand in places such as Zalissya.
Choosing between Dubny or the Ward significantly impacts the narrative of Stalker 2, as your selection determines who supports you in future events and which faction you align with during upcoming missions.
