Siddique Rape Case: Malayalam actor celebrates his 62nd birthday with family days after evading police

As a long-time admirer of Malayalam cinema, I find myself utterly disheartened and disillusioned by the recent events surrounding actor Siddique. The man who once brought joy to my screen and warmth to my heart, now finds himself embroiled in a scandal that tarnishes his image and reputation beyond repair.

Actor Siddique, who has faced accusations of sexual harassment from actress Revathy Sampath, recently enjoyed his birthday with family following a period of hiding and avoiding the Kerala police. Yesterday marked Siddique’s 62nd birthday, and photos from the celebration were shared by his son Shaheen Siddique on his official social media accounts. Take a look at the images below!

Shaheen Siddique shared two posts on his father’s birthday. In one, he captioned it as ‘Happy Bday Vapichi’ and the other as ‘Family (sic)”. In the pictures, the Malayalam actor can be seen spending some happy moments with his family, especially his newborn granddaughter. The pictures have gone viral on social media because of the actor’s alleged recent involvement in the sexual harassment case. It is pertinent to mention that Siddique had gone absconding after the High Court rejected his pre-anticipatory bail. Following this, the Kerala police issued a lookout notice for the actor.

After spending several days out of sight, Siddique was seen in public on Tuesday (October 1), appearing alongside his lawyer and son. Later, the Malayalam actor departed from the scene without offering any comments to the media.

Following the rejection of his bail request by the High Court on September 24, Siddique chose to contest the lower court’s decision in the Supreme Court. In good news for the actor, an interim order preventing his arrest was issued.

Following a grievance expressed by Revathy, Siddique stepped down from his position as General Secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA). The Malayalam actor is currently facing charges under Sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

According to Onmanorama’s report, Revathy alleged in her complaint that Siddique initially reached out to her via social media. After the release of the film ‘Sukhamayirikkatte’, he asked her to meet him at his hotel room. At the time, she was just 21 years old. She claimed that he sexually assaulted her and locked her in the room. Fortunately, she was able to escape from the situation.

It is worth mentioning that the sexual assault case against the Chattambinadu actor comes amid multiple FIRs filed against various Malayalam film fraternity figures after the release of the Hema Committee report.
