Kamal Haasan and Sarika tied the knot in 1988, deeply smitten with one another. Yet, their marriage encountered hardships, leading to its dissolution in 2002. Their eldest child, Shruti Haasan, frequently discusses the impact of this divorce on her life. Recently, during a Filmfare interview, she disclosed that her parents’ split not only affected her but also instilled humility within her.
Shruti shared that shifting from Chennai to Mumbai wasn’t a seamless changeover for her. Unlike swapping one grand residence for another, life in Mumbai didn’t offer much comfort. Yet, the actress conveyed her gratitude for the valuable insights it provided her.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’ve recently discovered a profound insight while navigating my personal journey. Switching from traveling the world in a luxurious Mercedes to commuting on a local train was quite an unexpected shift. Yet, this transition opened my eyes to a valuable lesson – there’s much we can learn by embracing contrasting experiences.
Gradually, Shruti took the initiative to grow personally. She mended her relationship with her father, Kamal Haasan, and chose to pursue higher education in music overseas. Her ambition was to achieve financial self-sufficiency and avoid any sense of entitlement.
Shruti openly acknowledged that while she didn’t have the right to feel so, her behavior often showed signs of insecurity. In an honest confession, the actress disclosed that she had been putting on a brave face, feigning confidence, but secretly harbored self-doubt for years. Gradually, she discovered that humility was key to boosting her self-assurance and improving her manners. This transformation proved beneficial for both her personal life and career.
In an exclusive chat with TopMob, Shruti Haasan shared her contentment with a choice her parents made. She emphasized that it’s not only when parents divorce or separate that they feel the hurt; there are households where, to appease societal norms, they remain together, and in some cases, the pain can be greater because it remains concealed.
Shruti said, “It makes me glad that they remain my parents, and I’m content if they find happiness individually, which is beneficial for us as well.
