As a long-time fan of both Shrek and PowerWash Simulator, I can barely contain my excitement for the upcoming Shrek Special Pack DLC! Ever since I was a young ogre, I dreamt of washing away the grime and filth from the swampy corners of my beloved universe. And now, that dream is becoming a reality, thanks to this fantastic collaboration between Square Enix and FuturLab.
The “Shrek Special Pack DLC” is set to arrive in “PowerWash Simulator” as the latest partnership with Universal Games and Products. This collaboration was unveiled during today’s Nintendo Direct Indie World Showcase, offering a sneak peek at some well-known locations that appear to have been oddly splashed with gold, pink, and blue paint.
When is the Shrek PowerWash Simulator DLC release date?
The Shrek Special Pack DLC for PowerWash Simulator is expected to arrive in the somewhat near, yet not immediately close future, which we can roughly estimate as fall 2024. However, neither Square Enix nor FuturLab have provided a specific release date as of now.
Given that it’s extremely improbable for the world to have enough detergent to clean an entire swamp, the Shrek Special Pack will showcase five locations from the Shrek Universe as depicted in the trailer. These include Shrek’s Swamp, which has been adorned with three different hues of shimmery paint. Since pink, blue, and gold do not appear to be Shrek’s preferred colors, players are tasked with restoring his habitat to its original, more natural state.
The second verified location is Dragon’s Lair. Although it wasn’t featured in the DLC pack’s official video, there were quick peeks of this map during the Nintendo Direct Indie World Showcase. For now, the three other locations are being kept under wraps, but we did catch a glimpse of the new knight-styled character costume that players can wear.
The add-on for the game allows play for two individuals during the mini-campaign in online teamwork, or for six players in free mode. Unfortunately, there’s no word yet on the price for this premium DLC. But given the cost of previous PowerWash Simulator DLC packs such as Back to the Future at $7.99, it’s likely that the new expansion will be priced similarly.
