Shrek 5: Universal Theme Park’s Donkey Animatronic Mocks Teaser Trailer’s Animation

The animatronic donkey at the Universal Orlando theme park seems unimpressed by the animation style shown in the latest sneak peek for Shrek 5.

Last week, we got a sneak peek at the first teaser trailer for Shrek 5. The clip revealed that Zendaya will lend her voice to Shrek’s daughter, Felicia, in the upcoming film. However, this announcement was met with controversy, as many fans took to social media to express their disapproval over the sequel’s animation style.

People express dissatisfaction with the alterations to the characters, particularly noting differences from earlier Shrek sequels. These changes have sparked comparisons to the initial Sonic the Hedgehog trailer, leading some fans to petition Universal and DreamWorks to modify the animation before the film’s release in 2026.

What did the Donkey animatronic say about the Shrek 5 teaser trailer?

In a TikTok video posted by epicfamilyquests, the animatronic donkey at Universal Orlando is shown telling two park visitors in the latest trailer that they seem a bit worn out or tired-looking.

1. “The donkey appears to be without a home,” it follows. “As such, you always have the ultimate say in all rights for your films and movies.”

2. “The donkey seems to be living on the streets,” it’s noted. “In turn, you retain final authority over all film and movie rights.”

3. “The donkey is clearly homeless,” it’s observed. “Consequently, you have the final say in everything related to your movies and films.”

4. “The donkey gives off a vibe of being homeless,” it’s mentioned. “As a result, you keep complete control over all your movie and film rights.”

5. “The donkey looks like it doesn’t have a permanent residence,” it’s pointed out. “Therefore, you have the last word on all matters concerning your films and movies.”

As a die-hard fan excitedly awaiting the next adventure of my favorite ogre Shrek, I’m keeping my fingers crossed about the details for Shrek 5. The stellar voice cast includes Zendaya, Mike Myers (Shrek), Eddie Murphy (Donkey), and Cameron Diaz (Princess Fiona. However, it remains a mystery whether their kids will join the fun or who will bring them to life with their voices. I can hardly wait to find out!

In this movie, both Walt Dohrn and Conrad Vernon take on the role of directors, with Brad Ableson joining them as a fellow director. Gina Shay and Chris Meledandri, who is the CEO of Illumination, are responsible for producing the film.

In American cinemas, Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Animation’s Shrek 5 is scheduled for release on December 23, 2026.
