Why are people comparing Shrek 5 to Sonic the Hedgehog?

In a similar predicament a few years back, Paramount Pictures faced a similar issue. The initial trailer for 2020’s Sonic the Hedgehog showcased an unpopular appearance for the main character, known as ‘Ugly Sonic,’ after its release. Fans expressed their disapproval regarding Sonic’s design, leading to the original concept being abandoned and ultimately revised for the movie’s final version.

In the 2022 film version of Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers, Tim Robinson lent his voice to a character named Ugly Sonic, which was a humorous take on the movie.
