As a seasoned gamer of medical dramas, I can confidently say that the return of Naomi Howard to Chicago Med for its upcoming season 10 is like finding that rare, elusive collectible in a game of Operation – pure joy! After her brief but intriguing debut last season, I’m thrilled to see her back on the wards.
Preparations are underway for the tenth season of Chicago Med, and it appears a familiar face may reappear! Let me share some insights with you!
Fans of “Chicago Med” are accustomed to characters joining and departing throughout the show’s run, and this has been exemplified by the news that Dominic Rains is departing his role as Dr. Crockett Marcel. On the other hand, it seems that Luke Mitchell will be a permanent cast member moving forward as Mitch Ripley.
The upcoming season 10 of the show is preparing to debut, introducing some fresh faces to the cast. Darren Barnet has been selected for the role of Dr. John Frost, a pediatric resident, while Sarah Ramos joins us as Dr. Caitlin Lenox.
In Season 9, several characters entered and exited the scene. Sophia Ali joined the cast as Zola Ahmad, initially appearing as an intern for Marcel. It seemed possible that she would become a permanent character. However, due to her conflicts with insurance companies, Zola frequently bent or broke the rules in order to help patients. This behavior reached a critical point when she was found giving a patient blood to qualify him for treatment. As a result, Marcel was forced to report her. Subsequently, we no longer saw Zola on-screen, and it was later revealed that she had been dismissed from her position off-camera.
As I stepped into season 10, there was Naomi Howard – a medical student who found herself assisting Archer (Steven Weber). At first, I was so jittery that Archer even gave me the boot. But later on, he noticed I had potential and merely needed some guidance. So, here I was, eager to learn from the master himself.
In the next two episodes, the character made another appearance, portrayed by Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut. You might recall her from her recent role as Sydney LaForge in “Star Trek: Picard”. If you’ve been wondering if this actress will reappear in the upcoming season, we now have some good news!
Naomi Howard is returning for Chicago Med season 10
According to TVLine, Chicago Med showrunner Allen MacDonald announced that the character Naomi will reappear in Season 10. However, he did not disclose the exact number of episodes she’ll appear in or if her role has been upgraded from recurring to a series regular character.
Naomi delivered an impressive first appearance on the show, despite having minimal scenes. The show hasn’t delved into medical students for some time now, but Naomi could serve as an ideal “apprentice” character, learning alongside Archer and others. Chestnut is a talented actress who can maximize her screen presence effectively.
As a longtime medical drama enthusiast with years of experience watching various shows, I must say that the new addition of two characters to the usual mix of drama in the upcoming show is intriguing. As someone who has followed numerous doctors around during my own studies, I can relate to the character Naomi, who will not be participating in major surgeries but rather observing other medical professionals at work. This dynamic adds a unique perspective to the show and makes it more relatable for those of us who have been students or trainees in the medical field.
It’s another nice addition to Chicago Med to keep this hit show rolling along.
Chicago Med season 10 premieres Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 8/7c on NBC.
