The collaboration between Shohei Ohtani and New Balance is thriving, with his new clothing line launching this week and his unique version of the 990v6 sneaker set to debut next week. It’s been about two years since the MLB star inked a deal with the American sportswear company, marking his initial foray into lifestyle footwear design.
The 990v6 as seen through Ohtanis eyes starts with a clean, off-white on the upper’s shield. It then alternates between a navy foundation and forest green accents, accentuated by silver and gray “N” logos at the midfoot. The substantial sole unit starts off white at the front and shifts to a mix of green and gray at the back, while a black rubber outsole finishes it off. The only tribute to Ohtani can be found on the sockliner graphic, which bears their co-branding.
