Shinobi Movie Adaptation in the Works, Director Set

As a seasoned gamer who has spent countless hours honing my ninja skills in the Shinobi arcade games of yesteryears, I must say, this news has me more than a little excited! The thought of seeing the world of Shinobi unfold on the silver screen is truly tantalizing.

It’s been announced that Sega is preparing to transfer another famous gaming series of theirs onto the big screen, as a Shinobi movie remake is currently being developed.

What do we know about the Shinobi movie adaptation?

The organization has revealed their partnership with Universal Pictures for a cinematic adaptation of Shinobi’s universe. A director and scriptwriter have already been selected, with Sam Hargrave from the Extraction series taking on directing duties, and Ken Kobayashi (Sunny) penning the screenplay for this upcoming film.

As a thrilled fan, I can’t hide my excitement about the upcoming movie, though details regarding casting, plot, and other aspects are still under wraps. However, I know that Marc Platt and Adam Siegel will be producing this masterpiece through Marc Platt Productions. Dmitri M. Johnson will join forces with Story Kitchen, while Toru Nakahara from SEGA is also involved in the production process. Mike Goldberg will serve as an executive producer, working alongside Timothy I. Stevenson, who is co-producing the film.

The Shinobi video game franchise initially made its appearance in 1987 as an arcade title from Sega and soon gained immense popularity. Throughout its timeline, over ten games have been released, including the 2011 version titled Shinobi 3D. Excitingly, a fresh installment of this series is being developed, with further details to be unveiled in due course.

Shinobi is planning to build on the box-office triumphs of Universal Pictures’ blockbuster video game adaptations like The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Five Nights at Freddy’s, with The Super Mario Bros. Movie grossing more than $1.4 billion, by releasing their next project.
