Shinji Mikami & Suda51 would love to do a Killer7 complete edition or sequel

As a devoted fan of Suda51 and Grasshopper Manufacture, hearing the whispers of a potential Killer7 sequel or Complete Edition has sent me into a frenzy! The original Killer7 was a mind-bending rollercoaster ride that left me yearning for more.

Grasshopper Manufacture is currently refining Shadows of the Damned for a remastered release, and during this process, they had a meeting with Shinji Mikami, who used to lead Tango Gameworks and collaborated with Goichi Suda (also known as Suda51) on the game. Mostly discussing Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, Mikami hinted at his desire for Suda51 to create a sequel to Killer7 in future projects. In response, Suda expressed interest in revisiting the original Killer7 and potentially following up with a sequel after that.

During this week’s Grasshopper Manufacture Direct, both Mikami and Suda exchanged their insights. A significant portion of the discussion delved into Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered. Towards the end of the chat, there was a curiosity about upcoming projects. At that point, Mikami expressed his thoughts on potentially revisiting Killer7.

As an avid enthusiast, I’ve come to understand my desire to maintain a highly involved role in video game production, and I can’t help but express my eagerness for Suda51 to develop a follow-up to the captivating Killer7 series.

When Suda51 expressed his curiosity about a potential sequel or Complete Edition, hinting at “Killer7: Beyond,” Mikami emphasized that what truly matters is Suda’s involvement in the project. Later, designer and project manager Nobutaka Ichiki revealed some rationale for developing a Killer7 Complete Edition.

In a nutshell, Killer7 is often hailed as a must-play among Suda51’s games. While there might not be a remaster or sequel anytime soon, the enthusiasm from the developers is evident. On the other hand, Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered is set to release in October 2024, so keep an eye out for more details as we approach the game’s launch. Additionally, there might be updates on Killer7 after this, which we’ll share at Shacknews as they become available.
