Shia LaBeouf details his struggling days while preparing for Orphans
Shia LaBeouf disclosed that he wasn’t doing well during his preparations for the Broadway production “Orphans,” ultimately deciding to withdraw from it.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, LaBeouf admitted to using steroids and spending nights in Central Park. “There’s a small fire station where horses are kept,” he described. “And there’s plenty of space nearby to relax. You just need to shift positions every few hours, and someone comes around to check, but you can spend the majority of your time there.” The actor from Transformers further elaborated.
In his own words, Shia LaBeouf acknowledged that his disagreements with fellow actor Alec Baldwin contributed to his departure. He explained, “I was improvising while he was sticking to the script, which made our scenes challenging.” He further shared, “I was quite disheartened… I was staying in a park and taking steroids at a time when I wasn’t in good shape.” However, LaBeouf added that they eventually patched things up, saying, “We managed to exchange love before all the chaos ensued.
LeBeouf admitted that his erratic behavior in the past was due to a lack of spiritual guidance. He explained, “I had no spiritual life at all,” labeling himself as “not a good person” and attributing his transformation to Catholicism and his stay at a monastery. He added, “It definitely affects how you work.” Additionally, he shared that Mel Gibson, Sean Penn, and James Brolin assisted him in overcoming addiction. “They were able to reach me and kept me alive,” he said.
Currently, he stars in Henry Johnson, a new film directed by David Mamet.
