What happens in the Henry Johnson trailer?
The trailer for the film “Henry Johnson” prepares us for a gripping prison drama where Shia LaBeouf portrays an inmate named Gene. His character speaks in the preview, saying, “It appears everything is as it seems. All the pieces are in place; it’s just about deciding how to play them.
The film, as outlined in its summary, is a drama that chronicles the protagonist’s (Jonigkeit) quest to find a moral compass after an act of kindness drastically alters his life. In his encounters with various figures of authority, such as his eventual cellmate Gene (LaBeouf), Henry embarks on a path marked by manipulation and ethical confusion.
The film is a cinematic interpretation of Mamet’s 2023 play with the identical title. Jonigkeit and Lije Sarki are jointly responsible for its production, while RBG, Marcel Bonn-Miller, Sheldon Stone, and Peter Baxter fulfill their roles as executive producers. Erin Kennedy and Susemiehl contribute as co-producers in this project.
Known for his contentious political views and the creation of the 1984 play Glengarry Glen Ross, which was later adapted into the 1992 film of the same name, Mamet is also recognized for earning Oscar nominations for Best Adapted Screenplay with works such as 1982’s The Verdict and 1997’s Wag the Dog. In 1987, he began his directorial career with House of Games, but since a 2013 TV movie titled Phil Spector, starring Al Pacino, Helen Mirren, and Chiwetel Ejiofor, he hasn’t directed another film.
Henry Johnson will be released on May 9, 2025.
