Shelton Benjamin Recalls His Disappointment Reaction to WWE’s Shocking Move

Previously contracted All Elite Wrestling (AEW) performer Shelton Benjamin, who parted ways with WWE in the year 2023, has voiced his displeasure regarding Vince McMahon’s decision. In the year 2020, Shelton Benjamin joined forces with MVP, Bobby Lashley, and Cedric Alexander to establish The Hurt Business within the WWE.

During the pandemic period, The Hurt Business swiftly garnered a large following, only to disband in 2021. Despite WWE’s repeated efforts at reunion, The Hurt Business failed to recapture its initial fan base support. This turn of events was unfortunate not just for the fans but also for the faction members themselves.

On the Talk is Jericho podcast, Shelton Benjamin shared his thoughts on Vince McMahon’s decision to disband their group, The Hurt Business. Benjamin expressed feelings of betrayal, stating, “Vince, for some reason unknown to us, chose to continue with Bobby and MVP as managers, and apparently he was finished with The Hurt Business. We never received a clear explanation regarding why.

He went on saying, “When I first heard the news, I approached Vince and said – I’ve been here for a few years without any significant incidents, but now I have something concrete that we can develop and enhance, especially during the pandemic era since, in my view, The Hurt Business and Roman Reigns were the backbone of WWE during this period. I felt somewhat let down because I always show up without complaints, I put my life on the line just like everyone else. When others opted to stay home, there was never a doubt that I’d come to work.” [Credit: Fightful]

During the same broadcast, professional wrestler Shelton Benjamin disclosed his disappointment regarding a recent turn of events. He clarified that despite consistently delivering top-notch performances and being eager to excel, Vince McMahon suddenly dissolved their group, The Hurt Business.

Benjamin was taken aback and saddened, particularly when McMahon informed him that they had reached their maximum capacity with the group. He further shared his aspiration to lead and spur progress. Yet, he believed McMahon would always prevent such a scenario from unfolding.
