As a seasoned observer of the world of Malayalam cinema, I must say that the recent developments surrounding the film Footage have caught my attention. It is always disheartening to hear about incidents where safety protocols are compromised during filming, and it appears that this might have been the case here.
Actress Sheetal Thambi has served a legal warning to Manju Warrier, asking for a compensation amounting to 50 million rupees. This follows allegations made by Sheetal, who claims she suffered injuries during the production of Manju’s film titled Footage.
Based on a report by Mathrabhumi, the actress stated that during a stunt scene, she sustained an injury because adequate safety measures and protection were lacking. Furthermore, she mentioned that no prompt ambulance service was available when needed, and to this day, no compensation has been offered.
Regarding the accusations, the movie’s production company declared they offered appropriate care to the actress and disputed her assertions. The accuser is seeking reparation, arguing that she can no longer work due to her current state and the event has caused significant distress. Since actress Manju Warrier is one of the co-producers of the film, the complaint has been brought against her name as well.
In this film, Manju Warrier, Vishak Nair, and Gayathri Ashok take center stage as the main characters. This movie is classified as a suspenseful thriller shot using found footage, which marks the directorial debut of acclaimed editor Saiju Sreedharan. The narrative explores human tendencies to intrude into each other’s private lives and record even the most intimate moments they share.
In the realm of Malayalam cinema, “The found footage narrative” serves as an innovative experiment. The initial segment follows events viewed through a man’s camera lens, leading to predicaments, whereas the subsequent part offers a perspective shift, presenting similar scenarios but this time captured by a woman’s camera.
Through the lens of their camera, this twosome embarks on an adventure that unfolds the enigmatic life of a woman, forming the central plot of the story.

On the career side of Manju Warrier, she will soon appear alongside Superstar Rajinikanth in the movie Vettaiyan, which is directed by TJ Gnanavel. This film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, and several others in significant roles and is scheduled to release on October 10 this year.
In addition, you’ll find the actress starring significantly in the movie Viduthalai Part 2. Notably, she is set to reprise her role in the film L2: Empuraan featuring Mohanlal.
