Simon Pegg, known for his role in Mission: Impossible, has given an update on Shaun of the Dead 2 that may not be what fans eagerly anticipating a sequel to the beloved zombie comedy movie are hoping for. The news arrives over two decades since the original film hit theaters, where it raked in over $38 million globally against a production budget estimated at around $6 million.

What was Simon Pegg’s Shaun of the Dead 2 update?

In a recent conversation, Pegg disclosed that he and director Edgar Wright are making an effort to collaborate on a new project. He shared that Wright spent three days at his home, during which they were brainstorming ideas for a fundamental concept of the potential film.

He told eager fans to brace themselves for something surprising rather than what they’ve seen in their past collaborations, as a follow-up to “Shaun of the Dead” isn’t on the table right now, despite recurring requests about it.

In a candid admission, Pegg acknowledged the flattery of being asked about continuing the film, but emphasized that Shaun is a complete story with a start, middle, and end. Adding to it, as Alien 3 did to Aliens, could potentially diminish the original. Therefore, when they create their next film, he and Edgar are determined to disappoint everyone by not continuing the story of Shaun.
