Lionsgate has formally revealed that the highly-anticipated action-thriller “Shadow Force,” featuring Emmy victor Kerry Washington and Golden Globe nominee Omar Sy, will hit the screens on its specified release date. This movie comes from the creative mind of Joe Carnahan, who’s previously directed “The A-Team.
In the movie, Kyrah (Washington) and Isaac (Sy) used to head a global elite unit called Shadow Force. They disobeyed rules by developing feelings for each other, and to shield their child, they went into hiding. With a substantial reward offered for their capture, and the vengeful Shadow Force constantly pursuing them, their personal struggle escalates into an all-out conflict.
When is the Shadow Force release date?
Shadow Force is set to hit cinemas on May 2, 2025, coinciding with several major releases including Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts*. Other notable films slated for the same month include Final Destination: Bloodlines, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Lilo & Stitch, Bring Her Back, and Karate Kid: Legends.
This movie is helmed by director Joe Carnahan, who collaborated with Leon Chills in scriptwriting. Washington and Sy are joined by Mark Strong, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Cliff “Method Man” Smith, Yoson An, Natalia Reyes, Sala Baker, and others in the cast. Initially, it was compared to the blockbuster success of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, with many describing it as a modern spin on the 2005 action-comedy. Washington not only stars but also produces alongside Stephen “Dr.” Love and Sterling K. Brown. Interestingly, Brown was initially cast for the main role but opted to switch roles and become a producer instead.
