In the Apple TV+ series “Severance,” Adam Scott’s portrayal of Mark Scout has received a lot of positive attention, but before its release in 2022, Scott admitted to having concerns about how viewers would react to his performance. This science fiction drama focuses on the staff at Lumon Industries, a company where employees undergo a procedure that divides their work and personal memories. Despite its success and receiving 14 Primetime Emmy nominations for its first season, Scott confessed he was quite nervous about being the show’s main face. The series is currently airing its second season.
Adam Scott says he was ‘freaked out’ upon Severance’s release
Recently, the actor from Madame Web shared insights on his nervous journey from the lighthearted atmosphere of Parks and Recreation to the unconventional environment of Severance.
During his latest conversation on the Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast, Adam Scott shared his feelings about the Apple TV+ show. He admitted to feeling overwhelmed when Severance was initially released a few years ago. He explained that it felt surreal, like his face was everywhere in town due to billboards, and yet this moment, which he had anticipated for 30 years, turned out to be more terrifying than joyful for him.
Scott also mentioned that while the Severance crew were very fond of the project they had developed, they remained uncertain about how the general audience would respond. In his words, “We really enjoyed it, but we weren’t sure if others would appreciate it or if they’d just laugh at us.” He went on to explain, “You never know how something will be received, so there was a chance it could have turned into a big, awkward moment for us.
Despite initially being hesitant, Adam Scott has since embraced the success of Severance. Recognizing the worth of his efforts, he expressed, “It’s scary to be out in front, but it’s also incredibly rewarding to do something you feel proud of.
The second season of “Severance” is currently available for streaming on Apple TV+, with the first five episodes having been released so far. Every Friday, new episodes of this ten-episode series are being added to Apple’s top-tier streaming platform.
