In a recent update, executive producer and director of “Severance”, Ben Stiller, shared some insights about when fans can anticipate Season 3 of this Apple TV+ sci-fi psychological thriller series. The show first debuted on February 18, 2022, concluding its first season on April 8, 2022. Following the release of the first season, there was a substantial gap before the premiere of the second season, which occurred on January 17, 2025. Currently, the finale episode of Season 2 is available for streaming on Apple TV+.
Ben Stiller says Severance Season 3 is ‘definitely not’ three years away
I, a thrilled fan, am excited to share that Ben Stiller recently confirmed in an interview there’s no need for us to wait another three years for a new season of Severance. On the New Heights podcast, during his conversation with Travis Kelce, he set the record straight. When asked about it, he emphatically stated, “No, absolutely not.” He further added that we might be hearing about the actual plan very soon, hinting that what we’ve been waiting for won’t be another three-year wait.
Ever since its debut, Severance has been met with an overwhelmingly favorable reception from both critics and viewers alike. As of now, Season 1 boasts a remarkable 97% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 117 reviews. Impressively, Season 2 has maintained an equally impressive 96% approval rating after receiving feedback from 190 reviewers. It’s been reported that Severance surpassed Ted Lasso as the most-watched series on Apple TV+ following the premiere of Season 2. (Based on a report by Deadline)
Significantly, Apple has yet to make an official declaration about Season 3 of Severance. However, considering Stiller’s statements and the outstanding performances in the first two seasons, it seems only a question of time until they do so.
Produced by Dan Erickson, who also oversees the series, Severance primarily focuses on a specific team of employees at Lumon Industries. These workers are engaged in confidential projects and have undergone the title-named surgical procedure, separating their professional lives from the rest. The actors include Adam Scott as Mark Scout, Zach Cherry as Dylan George, Tramell Tillman as Seth Milchick, Britt Lower as Helly Riggs, John Turturro as Irving Bailiff, and Christopher Walken as Burt Goodman.
