In an unexpected turn of events, the final episode of Season 2 of Severance featured a mystifying goat-sacrifice scene, leaving viewers perplexed.
In the given episode, the head of the Caring Division at Mammalian Industries (character played by Gwendoline Christie) enters accompanied by a goat, intended for sacrificing purposes. Drummond inquires if the goat is able to dance and perform tricks. This playful linguistic puzzle mirrors the show’s distinctive use of language, suggesting that Lumon’s cold-hearted ruthlessness transcends the boundaries of human behavior.
Mammalians Nurturable, Verve and Wile in Severance Season 2’s goat scene, explained
In the thrilling world of Severance Season 2, I found myself delving into a fresh work environment – the Mammalians Nurturable department, overseen by Lorne. This place was home to a team that seemed permanently anchored to Lumon’s severed floor. As the season reached its climax in Episode 10, a shocking truth was unveiled: our beloved goats were not just for companionship; they served a much darker purpose – sacrificial ones.
When Lorne brings the perfect goat, Drummond inquires if it exhibits zest and trickery. In simpler terms, he’s asking if the goat is lively (zest) and possibly mischievous or sly (trickery). The most suitable goat that can display “zest” and “trickery” will be offered as a sacrifice for Gemma. This sacrifice will serve as a guide for Gemma’s spirit to find Kier.
The foreboding atmosphere suggests that Lumon intends to harm Gemma too. However, just before the goat’s slaughter, Mark unexpectedly shows up at the door, pursuing his separate objectives. In an effort to thwart Mark’s intentions, Drummond tries to assault him instead.
Does Drummond die in Severance Season 2?
Drummond accidentally dies at the hands of Outie Mark in the Season 2 finale.
Prior to this, Lorne assists Mark in retaliating against Drummond. Lorne gives him a gun which Mark uses when he captures Drummond as his hostage.
As the pair steps onto the elevator destined for Export Hall, Mark unintentionally sets off a mechanism that proves fatal for Drummond. Later on, Mark employs Drummond’s necktie to gain access to the Cold Harbour room, where Gemma appears to be wrapping up her last assignment, which seems conclusive.
Following Drummond’s passing, there are more unanswered questions than solutions among the fans. Some had conjectured that Drummond’s allegiance to Lumon ran much deeper than just his professional duties. If this were true, Drummond’s death might imply that Lumon will not show leniency towards Mark.
Ben Stiller, the show’s executive producer, has given fans reason to hope that they won’t have to wait too long for Season 3. This upcoming season is expected to explore the fallout following Drummond’s death. Mark’s choice to stay with Helly on the Severed floor now puts them both in a precarious position under Lumon, setting up a thrilling and tense continuation.
