Sega is developing a House of the Dead movie

As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, the news of Sega’s House of the Dead movie adaptation has me both excited and cautiously optimistic. Having survived countless zombie apocalypses in various video games, I’ve developed a sixth sense for spotting potential disaster. But let’s hope Paul W.S. Anderson, the man behind the Resident Evil movies, can channel that same energy into House of the Dead.

Sega revealed that they’re developing a movie based on their popular zombie horror series, House of the Dead. This cinematic project is being produced alongside Story Kitchen.

Paul W.S. Anderson, known for producing several live-action Resident Evil films, has agreed to pen, helm, and produce The House of the Dead movie. This marks his return to video game adaptations since 2020’s Monster Hunter, a project he also wrote and directed.

The “House of the Dead” series kicked off in 1996, debuting its first game. This game adopted an on-rails system where players would blast zombies while traversing diverse settings. Additionally, a movie adaptation titled “House of the Dead” was made in 2003 under the direction of Uwe Boll.

As a devoted fan, I’d say I’m excited about Sega describing “The House of the Dead” movie as a pulse-pounding, live-action journey that pulls you right into the heat of the action. With an estimated runtime of around 90 minutes, it’s another video game adaptation joining the ever-growing roster in development.
