SEGA and Universal Pictures have revealed plans for a film based on the Shinobi video game series. Earlier, during The Game Awards 2023, it was announced that a fresh installment of Shinobi is being developed by SEGA.

Here’s everything we know so far about this upcoming Shinobi movie:

  • As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share that Sam Hargrave, renowned director from the Extraction series, is gearing up to bring SEGA’s legendary SHINOBI franchise to life on the big screen! Ken Kobayashi, known for his stellar work in Sunny and Move On, will be crafting the script tailored for Universal Pictures.

  • Marc Platt and Adam Siegel will produce through Marc Platt Productions. Dmitri M. Johnson will produce through Story Kitchen. Toru Nakahara will produce through SEGA. Mike Goldberg will executive produce alongside Timothy I. Stevenson, who is co-producing.
  • SHINOBI is building on Universal Pictures’ triumph from 2023 with hit video game adaptations like The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Five Nights at Freddy’s, which raked in a collective box office revenue of more than $1.4 billion and $290 million worldwide.
