Scream Star in Talks To Join Mike Flanagan’s Carrie TV Show Cast

As Mike Flanagan’s television adaptation of “Carrie” progresses, having received the go-ahead in April, there are rumors that another actor may be joining the cast, with Summer H. Howell reportedly in discussions to play Carrie White.

By the given deadline, renowned actor Matthew Lillard (known for his role in Scream and soon to appear in Scream 7) is reportedly in discussions to join Amazon MGM Studios’ adaptation of Stephen King’s first novel, Carrie. The specific character Lillard might portray in the series has yet to be disclosed.

Who else is being eyed to star in Mike Flanagan’s Carrie TV show?

Besides Howell (from “Curse of Chucky” and “Cult of Chucky”), Siena Agudong from “Resident Evil” is also being considered for the role of Sue Snell. This would make Lillard the third actor to potentially join the cast, as the project is currently in the initial stages of selecting actors. If Lillard were to accept a role in the series, it would be his next collaboration with Flanagan; Lillard previously played Gus Wilfong in another Stephen King adaptation called “The Life of Chuck.

A fresh and well-timed adaptation of the tale revolving around Carrie White (Howell), a socially awkward teenager who’s been sheltered by her overbearing mother. Following her father’s unexpected and unfortunate demise, Carrie navigates through the unfamiliar world of high school, experiences a devastating bullying incident that disrupts her community, and discovers an enigmatic ability to manipulate objects with her mind.

Flanagan’s Carrie series represents the fifth adaptation of King’s iconic novel, following Brian De Palma’s cult film from 1976 titled “Carrie,” “The Rage: Carrie 2” (1999), the 2002 version of Carrie, and the 2013 movie starring Chloë Grace Moretz.

The premiere date for Flanagan’s Carrie has yet to be announced.
