In the upcoming Scream 7, Neve Campbell will once again assume the character of Sidney Prescott, a role she had previously missed out on in Scream VI due to contractual disagreements. The director for this latest installment is Kevin Williamson, who was responsible for penning the screenplays of the initial four Scream films.

Currently, specifics about the storyline are being kept secret. Paramount Pictures will distribute the film, with Spyglass Media handling production. The script was penned by Guy Busick, while James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Paul Neinstein serve as producers. Radio Silence will act in an executive producer role.

Initially, Christopher Landon was slated to direct Scream 7. Melissa Barrera had plans to reappear as Sam Carpenter, but she was dismissed by Spyglass Media in 2023 due to remarks about the Israel-Hammas conflict. Following this incident, Jenna Ortega, who portrayed Sam’s sister Tara in Scream (2022) and Scream VI (2023), decided to withdraw from the project because of scheduling conflicts with Season 2 of Wednesday.

After Barrera’s dismissal caused an uproar, Landon decided to withdraw from the project in December 2023. According to Variety, the 2023 Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) and Writers Guild of America (WGA) strikes led to a postponement in filming.
