Scream 7 Cast: Mason Gooding Set to Return

As a seasoned gamer who has been through countless horror movie marathons, it’s always thrilling to see familiar faces returning to the Scream franchise. Mason Gooding‘s comeback as Chad Meeks-Martin is like a breath of fresh air, especially considering his character managed to survive the attacks in Scream VI.

It’s confirmed that Mason Gooding will be reappearing in the Scream series again, specifically in the upcoming Scream 7, according to Variety.

In the upcoming Scream 7, we’ll see Gooding reprising his character as Chad Meeks-Martin, the nephew of the classic figure Randy Meeks. Gooding previously portrayed this role in Scream from 2022 and Scream VI from 2023. In the latter film, Chad managed to survive encounters with two Ghostface killers. As for Jasmin Savoy Brown, who plays his on-screen twin Mindy, a decision regarding her participation in Scream 7 has yet to be made.

Currently, Gooding is featured in A24’s comedic disaster film titled Y2K. By the year 2025, Gooding will share the screen with Olivia Holt in the romantic comedy-slashers known as Heart Eyes, set to premiere on February 7.

Who is in the Scream 7 cast with Mason Gooding?

Previously absent from Scream VI due to a contract disagreement, long-time franchise member Neve Campbell is set to star in the seventh movie, portraying Sidney Prescott once more. Discussions are ongoing for Courteney Cox to appear alongside Campbell, potentially reviving her character Gale Weathers.

In a fresh take, it’s announced that Isabel May, known for her role in 1883, is set to portray Sidney Prescott’s daughter in Scream 7. Other newcomers joining the cast include Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, and Sam Rechner.

In Scream 7, you won’t see Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega reappearing. Back in November 2023, Melissa Barrera was let go by Spyglass Media Group following some pro-Palestine statements she made about the Israel-Hamas conflict. The day after, Jenna Ortega left the project due to scheduling issues with Netflix’s Wednesday series. It was then disclosed that there were salary disagreements between Ortega and Spyglass.

In August 2023, it was announced that Christopher Landon, known for directing films like Happy Death Day and Freaky, agreed to take charge of Scream 7. However, following the departure of both Barrera and Ortega from the project, Landon decided to step down as well.

In simpler terms, the upcoming seventh movie in this series will be directed by Kevin Williamson, who also wrote the script with Guy Busick. The production is handled by Paul Neinstein, William Sherak, and James Vanderbilt, and it’s being produced by Spyglass Media. Paramount Pictures will distribute the film.

Scream 7 arrives in theaters on February 27, 2026.
