Scott Pilgrim Returns to Video Games In New Trailer

At the live event known as the Summer Game Fest, it was Tribute Games who unveiled that their next side-scrolling action game will be inspired by the widely acclaimed Scott Pilgrim series, penned by Bryan Lee O’Malley. A fresh trailer was exhibited, offering a sneak peek into the forthcoming game for players to see.

What is the new Scott Pilgrim video game?

Hailing from the creators behind the widely praised Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, Tribute Games has unveiled its latest creation titled Scott Pilgrim EX. This throwback-styled brawler promises an exciting roster of seven playable characters straight out of the popular comics, each with unique skills to master. In addition to standard beat ’em up action, players will also be treated to some open-ended exploration sections that let them freely navigate the game’s Toronto backdrop. In collaboration with Bryan Lee O’Malley, Tribute Games formed a creative alliance for Scott Pilgrim EX. Additionally, this version boasts fresh artwork by Paul Robertson and music from Anamanaguchi. The game also benefits from the creative input of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off director, BenDavid Grabinski.

It’s been quite a while since the video game adaptation of Scott Pilgrim came out. Back in 2010, Ubisoft released the popular beat ’em up game, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, inspired by O’Malley’s legendary comic book series. When it debuted on PS3 and Xbox 360, it received generally positive reviews. On Metacritic, a site that aggregates reviews, it earned an average score of 77 points.

In 2021, the game that was initially released for PS3 and Xbox 360 was made available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and personal computers (PC). This release included Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: Complete Edition, which encompassed the entire game along with its additional content packs featuring characters Knives Chau and Wallace.

Scott Pilgrim EX launches for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2026.
