In a notable shift within the international music and amusement field, Scooter Braun has formally relinquished his position as CEO of HYBE America, the American branch of the South Korean entertainment conglomerate, HYBE Corporation. The news, revealed today, marks a tactical change for Braun, who will now take on an executive consultancy role. This announcement follows approximately a year since Braun retired from artist management.
Scooter Braun is stepping down as CEO but will remain closely connected with HYBE. He’ll stay on the board of directors and assume the role of Senior Advisor to Chairman and CEO, Bang Si-Hyuk, at HYBE. This move allows Braun to explore new opportunities while keeping a close eye on HYBE’s long-term goals as one of its major shareholders. According to HYBE, this change lets Braun focus on other strategic areas while staying engaged with the company’s vision. Bang Si-Hyuk, Chairman of HYBE, praised Braun for his crucial role in establishing their strong U.S. presence and expressed gratitude for his leadership, business acumen, and dedication to artists. They look forward to collaborating with him further as they work towards achieving HYBE’s global mission.
Throughout his leadership as CEO of HYBE America, Braun significantly increased the company’s influence within the U.S. market. His tenure was marked by strategic acquisitions, such as QC Media Holdings (Quality Control) in 2023, a prominent Atlanta rap label with music catalogs from artists like Lil Baby, Lil Yachty, City Girls, and early Migos. Additionally, Braun brought high-level talent and executives into the HYBE network during his time there. Under his guidance, the groundwork was laid for HYBE America’s multi-label structure and intellectual property growth.
Starting from November 2023, Isaac Lee, a well-experienced entertainment executive, will take over as the new Chairman and CEO of HYBE America, replacing Braun in this role. His responsibilities now extend to managing key companies such as BMLG (Big Machine Label Group) in Nashville and QC Media Holdings in Atlanta. Alongside this, Lee continues to head HYBE’s operations in Latin America.
Braun openly acknowledged that his tenure at HYBE was exceptionally inspiring, referring to it as one of the most influential stages in his professional career. He also praised Chairman Bang as an innovative visionary and a musical genius. This leadership restructuring signifies a fresh era for HYBE America, with its ongoing aggressive expansion plans on a global scale.
