Scooter Braun, who is 44 years old and a well-known record executive, has decided to step down as CEO of HYBE America. However, he will continue to be linked with Bang Si Hyuk’s music business. Instead of focusing on HYBE, Braun plans to explore new opportunities outside the company while keeping his ties with it intact.
Scooter Braun changes role at HYBE America after stepping down as CEO
Originally serving as CEO for HYBE America, Scooter Braun – who used to manage Justin Bieber – has opted for a change in his position. Despite this shift, he will remain connected with BTS’ company, HYBE. In his revised role, Braun will serve as an executive advisor on the board of directors and senior advisor to the chairman of HYBE Corporation, Bang Si-Hyuk.
In 2021, Braun became associated with Bang Si Hyuk’s music label, HYBE, when BTS’ company purchased Ithaca Holdings for an estimated billion dollars. As part of the contract, Braun was given a seat on the board of HYBE and now shares the position of co-CEO of HYBE America with Lenzo Yoon (as reported by Variety).
In 2023, I stepped up as the lone leader and the second-biggest individual stockholder of the company. Moreover, it’s been made clear who’s set to follow in Braun’s footsteps as the next CEO of HYBE America.
Isaac Lee, who held the position of chairman at HYBE America and Latin America before, is set to take over as CEO from Scooter Braun while continuing in his current roles. In a statement, Bang Si Hyuk praised Braun’s impact on HYBE America by saying, “Scooter has been an exceptional collaborator, a forward-thinking leader, and a driving force behind cultural exchange” (as reported by Billboard).
The 52-year-old billionaire stated, “His crucial role has been instrumental in building our strong stance in the U.S. market. I am profoundly appreciative of his leadership, sharp intuition, and fervent support for artists. We eagerly anticipate his continued success as he embarks on a new journey and remain committed to collaborating with him on realizing HYBE’s worldwide aspirations.
Speaking as a fan myself, I can’t help but wonder what the next step will be for the visionary like Braun. According to the official announcement, it seems that he’s planning something monumental that mirrors his broad industry perspective and his proven knack for shaping culture on a massive scale, all while keeping his philanthropic endeavors close to heart.
