Regina Hall talks Scary Movie 6 and playing Brenda again
Regina Hall recently discussed her return as Brenda Meeks in Scary Movie 6 during an interview on Variety’s Awards Circuit Podcast. She explained that she decided to rejoin the cast because she found the script genuinely funny, and also offered a few hints about what fans can expect from the new movie.
The actress from ‘One Battle After Another’ explained that she understood the filmmakers’ plans. She believes a creative project is always changing until it’s finished and released. She was especially thrilled to see the original cast return, including the Wayans family and Anna Faris. She emphasized the importance of the characters Brenda and Cindy’s relationship, saying Brenda still relies on Cindy just as much as ever, even though their friendship remains complicated.
Hall explained that a sense of nostalgia and the current moment influenced her choice. She said it felt like the right time for a lighthearted, large-scale project. After reading the script, she immediately recognized its humor, and she believes audiences are ready for something a little unconventional right now.
Okay, so I just heard some news about Scary Movie 6 and it’s getting me hyped! Michael Tiddes, who did Fifty Shades of Black, is directing. The Wayans family – Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen Ivory – are all writing the script with Rick Alvarez, which is awesome. And get this – a lot of the original cast is coming back! Anna Faris will be Cindy Campbell again, Marlon Wayans is Shorty Meeks, Shawn Wayans is Ray Wilkins, Jon Abrahams is Bobby Prinze, and Dave Sheridan is still Doofy Gilmore! It’s going to be wild!
Scary Movie 6 is scheduled to premiere in theaters on June 12, 2026.
