Scarlett Johansson Wants Revenge On Michael Che for SNL Joke

In a recent magazine interview, Scarlett Johansson talked about several subjects, including the infamous roast beef joke by her husband Colin Jost, which was written by Michael Che during an episode of Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update last year. Johansson has often been the subject of lewd and inappropriate jokes from both Jost and Che. These jokes usually mocked her, particularly her physical appearance.

Scarlett Johansson addresses Michael Che’s SNL ‘Beef’ joke

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Scarlett Johansson shared her thoughts about the controversial roast beef joke made by Michael Che on SNL towards the end of last year. Being present backstage when Jost delivered the joke, the actress admitted she felt compelled to retaliate against Che for his part in creating it.

In a recent statement, Johansson expressed, “I find myself almost compelled to think of a response to Michael’s jest.” She further added, “Revenge, in this case, seems inevitable.” The Marriage Story actress also shared her surprise at the joke’s delivery, stating she was taken aback by the setup. Additionally, she playfully criticized Jost and Che for their joking manner, likening them to “boys in seventh or eighth grade.

Earlier this year, during an interview with InStyle, Scarlett Johansson had expressed her thoughts about the SNL joke, calling it “old-school crass.” However, she later admitted that it was a comical situation for her. She also mentioned that she knew Che would write a joke involving female genitalia, thanks to the producers’ forewarning. To her initial assumption, the joke wasn’t intended for her, but Johansson was taken aback when she saw the Costco photo.

As a fan, I’m delighted to share that the joke didn’t stir any tension between Johansson and Jost – they both shared a hearty laugh over it. Excitingly, Johansson is teaming up with Walton Goggins for the SNL Season 50 finale! The episodes featuring these stellar stars will be unveiled on May 10 and 17, 2025.
