During an interview with Deadline at Cannes Film Festival, Scarlett Johansson was asked about the possibility of reprising her role as Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and if she’d consider directing a large-scale action film like an MCU movie. Johansson expressed that it would be unlikely for her to return as the character, but she is open to the idea of directing an MCU production in the future.
Johansson expressed that she enjoys action movies with a strong human element. She mentioned that while working on Black Widow, she found a way to preserve the themes of family, connection, and human emotions, despite the film’s grand scale. In essence, she suggested that it is possible to maintain these elements in a larger-than-life universe, making it an exciting prospect.
