Saoirse Ronan & Austin Butler to Star in A24 Movie Deep Cuts

Actors Saoirse Ronan and Austin Butler have agreed to take the main roles in the film adaptation by A24 of the popular coming-of-age romance novel “Deep Cuts,” penned by Holly Brickley. Moreover, it was announced that Ronan will also produce this upcoming production.

As a passionate cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be witnessing the masterful creation of Sean Durkin, as he pens and directs an upcoming movie. This project represents another remarkable collaboration between Durkin and A24, following the acclaimed biographical drama, The Iron Claw, which graced our screens in 2023. Furthermore, this film will be brought to life by the production prowess of Josh Safdie, Ronald Bronstein for Central, and Eli Bush. I can hardly wait!

What is Deep Cuts about?

Deep Cuts, a romance from the 2000s, follows two young adults deeply passionate about music as they grapple with life’s complexities such as aspiration, identity, and growing up during a transformative decade.

Recently, Ronan has been featured in movies such as Blitz, a period drama directed by renowned filmmaker Steve McQueen from last year, and The Outrun, a drama helmed by Nora Fingscheidt. The latter film received BAFTA nominations for Best Actress in a Leading Role and Outstanding British Film. Currently, she is set to appear in the upcoming comedy-thriller titled Bad Apples, alongside Jacob Anderson, who gained fame from Game of Thrones.

Regarding Butler, his latest acting gig was portraying Feyd-Rautha in Denis Villeneuve’s hit sequel Dune: Part Two. Previously, he appeared in the Apple TV+ miniseries Masters of the Air last year. Currently, Butler has a full schedule with several prominent roles coming up, such as: Darren Aronofsky’s crime drama Caught Stealing, Ari Aster’s dark comedy Eddington alongside Pedro Pascal, the sports drama American Speed featuring Tom Holland, and Luca Guadagnino’s adaptation of American Psycho, where he will portray Patrick Bateman.
