Summary
- Thinnest Samsung smartphone yet at just 5.8 millimeters
- Slimmed down but still has the same powerful flagship processor – Snapdragon 8 Elite – as the rest of the S25 series
Samsung has launched an upgraded edition to its Galaxy S25 series, named the Galaxy S25 Edge. This fresh take on their flagship model comes with numerous similar characteristics, such as the potent Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, all housed within a more compact design.
Samsung’s new device, the Galaxy S25 Edge, is marketed as a sleek and innovative smartphone, living up to its billing as Samsung’s thinnest phone yet at 5.8 millimeters thick. Its design is contemporary, with a titanium frame that offers both robustness and lightweight convenience, weighing just 163 grams. To bolster its durability, Samsung collaborated with materials science company Corning and incorporated their latest material, “Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2”, into the phone’s display. This groundbreaking material hasn’t been seen in a smartphone until now, boasting exceptional toughness due to its unique composition and crack-deflecting capabilities.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge showcases a dynamic AMOLED 2X screen measuring 6.7 inches, boosted by Samsung’s unique Adaptive Vision Booster tech. Sporting a resolution of 3120 x 1440 pixels (Quad HD+), it sits comfortably between 2K and 4K displays in terms of resolution. This display also boasts an adaptable refresh rate, varying from 1Hz to 120Hz, which contributes to improved battery efficiency.
Among the S25 series phones I’ve come across, the Edge model stands out for sporting just two rear cameras – a primary 200MP and an ultra-wide 12MP. Considering its sleek build, this setup is hardly unexpected. It also boasts a 12MP front camera for selfies, but it’s worth mentioning that there’s no dedicated telephoto lens to be found on this device.
Samsung’s AI technology, known as Galaxy AI, is also part of the package, and the company emphasizes that it’s been seamlessly incorporated across a wide range of functions, from basic tasks to offering native support within numerous third-party apps.
The brand-new Galaxy S25 Edge is out now, offering two storage capacities: 256GB or 512GB. You can choose from an array of colors like “Titanium Silver”, “Titanium Jetblack” and “Titanium Icyblue”. Its price begins at £1,099 GBP / $1,099.99 USD.
