Samantha Ruth Prabhu reveals why she finds some of her old performances ‘ridiculous’: ‘Trying to be like my…’

15 years ago, Samantha Ruth Prabhu made her debut in the movie industry. In a chat with ETimes, she looked back on her career and discussed her initial movies. The actress from “The Citadel” confessed that certain ones now give her the shivers.

Initially, Samantha confessed that she found it hard to slot into glamorous parts that didn’t resonate as true to herself. Eager to fit in, she endeavored to emulate her gifted contemporaries in terms of looks, acting style, and dance moves. However, she now views those performances as utterly inauthentic.

She shared with ETimes that the acting performances which cause her discomfort are those where she felt out of place and tried to conform. At first, many extravagant roles didn’t suit her personality. She was striving to belong, attempting to emulate her talented contemporaries.

The actress further remarked, “I attempted to emulate their appearance, behavior, and dancing moves. Now, when I revisit those performances, I can’t help but find them utterly preposterous.

In the same interview, Samantha reminisced about her film industry journey and shared that Moscowin Kavery was her debut project where she acted alongside her dear friend Rahul Ravindran. Yet, she acknowledged that the process seemed removed due to the inconsistent filming schedule and extended pauses between takes.

She reminisced about Ye Maaya Chesave in a unique way, stating that she remembered each detail distinctly. Her initial scene, the encounter at the gate with Karthik, was particularly memorable and stood out in her mind. She attributed this clarity to director Gautham Vasudev Menon’s vision, as it enabled her to grasp the character more effectively.

When questioned about whether it was her initial time deeply engaging with a character, she confirmed that it was. Samantha expressed that this instance was exceptional, as she deeply resonated with the character. Since then, she hasn’t frequently experienced such intensity in her roles, causing her to delve into producing.

Looking back at her 15-year work journey, Samantha stated that she’s content with everything and feels eager about what lies ahead. She regards the past decade and a half as an invaluable period of growth and self-development that molded her into the person she is today.

In terms of work, Samantha is preparing for the launch of her web series titled Rakt Bramhand and Bangaram.
