Sam Rockwell & Ben Schwartz to Star in Comedy Movie Directed by Lonely Island’s Jorma Taccone

In a fresh comedy film called “DNA,” actors Sam Rockwell and Ben Schwartz are set to take the lead roles. This upcoming project is being helmed by director Jorma Taccone, who’s well-known as part of The Lonely Island group.

Rockwell is widely recognized for appearing in films like Galaxy Quest (1999), Iron Man 2 (2010), Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017), among others. Simultaneously, Schwartz lends his voice to the main character, Sonic, in Paramount’s Sonic movie series, and has made significant contributions to shows such as Parks and Recreation, DuckTales, and various other productions.

Now, per Deadline, the two will be starring in a new comedy together.

What do we know about DNA with Sam Rockwell and Ben Schwartz?

At present, specifics about the storyline for the upcoming DNA-related movie are being kept confidential. The screenplay was written by Schwartz, while Taccone is set to produce it together with Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Ali Bell. Additionally, Schwartz and Rockwell will act as executive producers for this project.

Previously, Taccone was the director for the 2010 movie MacGruber and jointly directed the 2016 film Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping with Schaffer. Currently, he is engaged in a new project called The Trip, which does not have a confirmed release date as of now. Apart from that, he has also taken charge of several episodes for Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Miracle Workers, The Last O.G., Knuckles, and various other productions.

In relation to DNA, Schwartz expressed that he had a movie idea and Oscar-winning actor Sam Rockwell showed interest in starring alongside him. The creative team at Searchlight Pictures found the concept intriguing and decided to develop it into a film. Schwartz wrote several drafts which his collaborators at Party Over Here appreciated, and they eagerly took on production duties. Additionally, Jorma Taccone expressed his desire to direct the movie, making Schwartz excited for their team. The project is currently titled DNA, and when it’s appropriate, Schwartz can’t wait to share more details with everyone.

DNA will be released through Searchlight Pictures. A release date has not yet been set.
