As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent scavenging through desolate landscapes, I can confidently say that the Sakhal map in DayZ has become my latest obsession. The allure of hidden treasures and the challenge of unlocking them has always been a draw for me, and this secret bunker is no exception.
In DayZ, the addition of the Sakhal map brought not only novel gameplay mechanics for players to adapt to, but also a hidden bunker packed with top-tier loot. Today, I’ll be revealing the precise location of this bunker, along with the generator you’ll require to activate and access the four internal rooms housing end-game weapons, ammunition, and military equipment.
Remember: To get all the valuable items from the Sakhal bunker’s storage areas, it is essential to have a Glow Plug and fuel for the generator. Although you can enter the main room of the bunker without these items, any prized loot will be locked behind doors that require powered operation by the generator.
Sakhal bunker location
The hidden fortress on Sakhalin is situated at the southwestern tip of the map, connected to the primary island via a land bridge. After crossing the land bridge, take the main road until you encounter a significant harbor featuring multiple submarines and cranes. Continue south from there, and you’ll stumble upon a military compound where the bunker entrances are positioned centrally. To access these exterior bunker doors, just interact with them; however, remember to bring a light source as it will be dark inside, and the inner doors containing valuable loot will remain locked unless you have the necessary equipment to run the generator.

Sakhal generator location
The generator to operate the interior bunker rooms is located southeast of the bunker itself. Head southeast from the bunker, away from the base, passing through a ravine that houses several hangars. As you go up the opposite side of the ravine, you’ll encounter a maintenance shed that’s one story with two doors and some windows next to the generator room. Head inside with your Glow Plug and fuel.
At the generator location, place the glow plug and make sure it’s fully fueled before turning it on. There are four switches on the wall to your left as you face the generator. Each switch controls one of the interior doors within the bunker, with only one switch able to be activated at a time. It’s best if two individuals perform this task. One person handles the generator and the switches while the other gathers the loot from the interior spaces and moves it to the main, easily accessible area of the bunker. Once all the loot is out in the open, the generator operator can enter the bunker, allowing you both to sort and divide the loot evenly.
As a gamer, I know that when I try to sneak into the bunker and crank up the generator, I’ll surely encounter resistance. The exterior doors of the bunker and the generator itself are likely to give me away, alerting anyone nearby. Inside, if someone’s trying to break in, I’ll hear them coming. It’s a common tactic for players to camp out near the bunker, waiting for the unsuspecting loot hunter to appear so they can ambush and steal the goods. Also, beware of landmines and tripwires as you move through the dark, they could be hidden just about anywhere in the bunker area.
